before, after, and in between checking out the nyfw runway shows (more on those later), i've been folding pages and pages of origami and looking at gridded shoji screens and samurai armor.
anyone who has visited my new chinatown digs has probably made a crane with me. its so relaxing. so for the spring/summer 2011 chromat collection, i have been studying the angles of the folds as i make origami, the repetition in the armor of the samurai warriors, the intricate tying and folding of ropes and cloth on kimonos and the calm, soothing presence of traditional Japanese shoji screens.
